similar line of thought: IRL pre-internet identity is socially negotiated--it required other people, some context in a community. You were a doctor, a brick mason, a mother because there were actual things that you did with other people involved. Internet allowed you to declare identity. I AM a woman, my avatar is a woman, everyone else in the fake digital community agrees because my avatar is all they see, why disagree? I think this is major contribution to current mass insanity--people raised with the internet are accustomed to declaring an identity and online there needn't be any pushback. Now people DECLARE their pronouns, their IRL identity. The "problem" is reality/meat space/IRL pushes back; people go insane because they repress offline existence. Synthetic Autism is a great term btw

Mr. Randyman from Daneland had thoughts around internet displacing identity and making it so that people who would normally find identity in the real world, in real community e.g., traditional community instead become what they consume. I touched on it up in hurr

Could you please elaborate on the point about interfacing with the process of stimulation, rather than the stimulation itself? I feel like its connected to other similar points that you have established in other articles about needing to take things literally, in their pure form rather than through metaphor/fetishization.

in terms of porn use in this case, I mean the difference between watching the video and trying to Goldilocks your way to finding "the right one". literally browsing, window shopping

Thought so and that sounds way too familiar, sadly. Trying to fill the void of filling the void is something that comes to my mind and it sounds quite bad but the only way out is through, am I right?

As usual, very nice read. Particularly i like this:

"You have to be able to see the level scaling, that the world is fake."

I have thought of it in terms of an onion and its various layers, each one presents its own false conclusion , "this is the last one". However, I like looking at it with your terminology of scaling, as it matches the methods of engineering.

Keep up the good work

Great article. “The purpose of propaganda in 2023 is not to convince or to hide, but merely to confuse and overwhelm” I try to tell friends about how many reversals of psychology happen in the modern spiraling of propaganda but I don’t think anyone grasps it. I don’t fully myself but I stay as detached as possible. It really does make you gay. My attempts to understand through searching the internet has been interesting but I’m definitely nostalgic for the pre web3.0 days. Thanks for the insight.

"I wish I wasn't on the internet to write this comment saying thankyou but even though this heartfelt message is covered in pissaids it's quite sincere believe me oh God I'm so sorry about the pissaids thankyou"

Internet was all great and kinda fun until the normies arrived with social media and started to demand "order". Otherwise it was the geek/nerd playground. I still have some friend who I made through different IRC communities. Now I have my "normie" friends on Facebook and I am "privileged" to read their feed.

Myself was a Star Wars Galaxies player. I touched WoW only for a few hours. Honestly I was totally unaware how the mechanics of the world has changed in recent years but sounds very disappointing.

I just finished reading “The Master and his Emissary,” your excellent essay goes so well with it. Lots to think about.
