Quick thought on victimhood culture

It is not “victim Olympics”, this is taking them at face value (never take women at face value). This entire framework is wrong.

The goal is not to be the biggest [victim] to get [attention], this analysis is flawed and simplistic. The goal is to be the biggest psychologist. it’s not larping as victims, it’s larping as doctors. it’s not victimhood as legitimacy and identity, it’s “soul identity doctor”, as legitimacy. Because being a psychoanalyst/soul doctor/mental-healther is the highest amount of legitimacy available in the medical-industrial culture we live in. No one has authority, except those who judge what is “healthy” and what is not. this is the only authority available in late modernity, and it’s a move to claim that authority.

They “want to look wounded” only insofar as it serves the purpose of being a “wounded healer”(tm). The point isn’t “oh woe is me, give me money and attention” - the point is, “oh, how great am I, to tend to my flock and take such good care of [all the other losers], despite myself being x y and z”.

It’s not to be cared about, it’s exactly the opposite, to be seen, caring. It’s to be seen (recognized) how much and how deeply you care about, [all those other losers]. Empathy(tm) as legitimacy. This is why hitting them with “victim Olympics” doesnt hit, doesnt hurt – because it’s inaccurate, and it’s literally not what they are doing.

They literally don’t “think of themselves as victims” – so accusing them of faking victimhood for attention, paradoxically, doesnt “hurt” - because they are, in fact, “faking” it. But because they aren’t “faking” it in the sense of the assumptions built into the picture of “faking victimhood”, faking disease Munchausen syndrome stuff. They “fake it” instrumentally towards a specific (social) end, to add validity to their compassion with others, and this functions as a sort of whitewashing of it, in an ends justify the means sorta way.

To where they don’t perceive of it as being fake, they don’t even judge it on that scale. The entire framework of faking victimhood appears to the victim olympist, absurd and non-sequitur.

They don’t feel bad for other people, but they feel ashamed about it because they think they should. so Lying about how you feel bad for them is Good Actually, and excused. exaggerating your own troubles, to Prove that you Understand the Experience (tm), is excused.

Basically you exaggerate your own flaws instrumentally, towards an end. And that end is “empathizing (tm)” better.

This is for the cult leaders I’m talking here, not the general population. General population is probably a bit of both to varying degrees. I’m talking talking heads, content creators and zeitgeist leaders here. the people who stick out.

Basically you can win the culture war in a single decisive culture battle, taking out the enemy culture camp and capturing their culture commanders - by out psychologising them, out-pathologizing them - because, they are also completely shit at it.

Call them fake victims it runs of like water raincoat etc, but call their “empathy” insincere and cold and calculated, and watch how they recoil.

I say this many times: the internet is not for caring, it’s for people who wished they cared.

You dont watch porn and jerk off because you are horny, you do it because you wish you were horny. You dont log on twitter and get in fights because you are angry – you dont even get angry at twitter, mostly. You log on because you wish you felt anything. And so you post detached and ironic until you come across a miscommunication you can take advantage off to feel misunderstood, feel hurt, this starts a chain reaction, provoking in the end, genuine feelings (annoyance, frustration). The internet is a machine that you use to create emotions using fake emotions. that’s the purpose of it. that’s what everyone uses it for. Because we’re not actually sad or horny or angry. We wish we were these things. What we are is bored, bored, bored, bored out of our skulls.
