how did male archetypes get indelibly branded with greek letters? my folklore only goes as far as “something with a wolf behavior study”. It’s a real nasty spell
I think lorewise it's internet guys trying to deconstruct "masculinity" in a void creating alfa/beta distinction, probably from that wolf behavior thing, creating irony memes about it (which is basically trying to resolve american "high school" memes from media w own experiences in school) -> funny jpgs spill over into blogworld of early 2010's who take it at face value and use the distinction sincerely to sell blogs (red pill, pick up era) -> further ironic iteration on sincere adoption of the framework -> no one knows who's trolling who and who's being ironic and who's being sincere, and a new form of expression emerges that is simultaneously sincere and ironic, fully embracing absurdity (the green lines, gigachad, sigma males)
"Call them fake victims it runs of like water raincoat etc, but call their “empathy” insincere and cold and calculated, and watch how they recoil.
I say this many times: the internet is not for caring, it’s for people who wished they cared."
this is going to be a bit like the "and then everyone clapped and recited the pledge of allegiance" but in a political science lecture the question of global obligations was raised, like what is our moral obligation to fix problems that we cannot see or do not impact us directly. why send $2.00 to the congo, who care if the kid starved. i was a senior at this point and very comfortable, more importantly i was "bored, bored, bored, bored." so people said "oh you should donate to charity, not too much, blah blah, i care more than you, no i do, etc." i made argument that "if i don't know them, i literally do not care about them at all. saving the lives will mess up incentives, if the aid ever even gets there, and cause more pain. more importantly, it's just not my problem. if you don't like the ads, or the TV streams, or the twitter threads, get up off the couch and stop watching. i literally don't care at all." this caused a great deal of tsking and what have you, but there wasn't really a concrete response 2 that thing

That point about using fake emotions to feel real emotions almost made me feel a real emotion, if I comment down below however I'm sure It'll push me over the edge to not feeling perpetual boredom.
Broke: pop music/art/etc. is generally sad because it seems deeper, there’s more to “get”
Bespoke: Incapability of any empathy whatsoever renders “getting it” absolutely stupid, and being sad makes it easier to think about your own being sad and avoiding empathy altogether straight into “here is how I got thru this”
